MONUMENTS: CENTENNIAL SQUARE, VICTORIA

The City of Victoria’s Centennial Square has a fabulous midcentury fountain which includes a trio of mosaic monoliths by the late Victoria artist Jack Wilkinson. In wintertime when the fountain water starts to freeze up on the sculptures there is a wonderful illuminated icy addition to the public monument. The sculpture titled Ceramic Fins of Centennial Square Fountain depict mythological themes of growth. Jack Wilkinson was an important visual artist known for his figurative paintings and he was a member of the Limners.
