Call for Soundworks: Sound Pieces on the Theme of Listening to the Land
September 9, 2025
Call for Submissions:
This Soundworks call for submissions invites sound pieces that explore listening to and sound making in relation to the lands of so-called British Columbia. Submissions may be sonic expressions, phenomena, or explorations of sounds. They may be site-specific and/or related to particular questions, intentions, or creative processes, and may be approached from various epistemological perspectives, including activist, phenomenological, ecological, cultural, historical, artistic, political, or ethical. We particularly encourage submissions from Indigenous sound artists / scholars. Possible forms include narrative or non-narrative voice, music, soundscape, storytelling, collected or created sound and noise.
Soundworks are part of BC Studies: The British Columbian Quarterly. They are peer-reviewed sonic compositions or recordings that extend our commitment to disseminating knowledge about British Columbia, in this case through sound as a form of knowing.
